Right in the heart of the Eifel region, nestled between two extinct volcanoes, you’ll find Baumhaushotel Sassen—a place that has nothing in common with typical vacation resorts. The Hochkelberg on one side, the Mosbrucher Weiher on the other. If you want to leave everyday life behind and truly arrive, you’ll find a retreat here that lives up to its name. On the farm, you’ll be greeted by horses, mini cows, donkeys, llamas, goats, geese, chickens, and mini pigs. Waking up to birdsong and animal sounds isn’t just a backdrop here—it’s reality.
Two treehouses are available on the farm, each accommodating up to two people. These treehouses are connected via a wooden walkway to the communal house, where you’ll find the bathroom with shower as well as a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor kitchen in the so-called Saloon.
The treehouse itself features electric wall heating, a minibar, a toaster, a kettle, and tea and coffee-making facilities. WiFi, a fireplace, and a balcony with views of nature complete the amenities. Outside, you’ll have access to a barbecue area, garden furniture, a terrace, and a fenced garden.

Wellness in the Whirlpool
A special highlight is the heated whirlpool, where you can relax under the starry sky in the evening. Host Ute also offers horseback rides through the Eifel forests, which are especially popular with guests. If you prefer to explore on your own, you’ll find hiking trails, cycling routes, the volcanic maars for swimming, and the legendary Nürburgring in the surrounding area. Dogs are warmly welcomed on the farm.

We had three wonderful days here and could easily have stayed a few more. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming, everything is possible, nothing is too much. We really enjoyed the surroundings, the animals, and all the sounds. Relaxing in the hot tub under the stars was amazing.The place is cozy and charming, a little back to basics in the best way. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

Funny farm house is an excellent place to spend a few days for animal lovers. There you will find llamas, donkeys, poneys, cows, chickens, pigs and goats. You will have the chance to feed them, play with them leisurely. It is run by Ute, who is an excellent host who speaks great english.

We had a warm welcome from Ute and her dog. She was super friendly and we could ask her anything. Our cosy tree house had to warm up a little because it was freezing and snowy outside but it heated up very good. Ute let us feed the animals in the morning and you could pet them too. There is a lot to see around funny farm and picture perfect walks. We had a lovely stay and had a perfect weekend!

We went for the second time and we stayed in the tree house. Like the first time we went, we had a lovely stay. Ute is such a lovely lady. Super friendly and informative. She has lovely animals and the surrounding is so peaceful. Its a really nice place to de-stress and you can have really nice walks around the neighbourhood. It's very open without any noise accept the birds chirping happily. Would go again if I have the chance!

We absolutely love this place. We've been here twice now and are defenitely thinking about coming back again. The peace of this place is great, the animals are just fantastic, nature is all around and the cabin is cosy and stylish. There's enough to see in the area and you can walk for hours. The owner is an amazing woman! She makes sure you have everything you need and really is the heart of this place. If you love animals, nature and freedom you should really go here!!
