Unusual perspectives on the Black Forest treetop walk
The Black Forest treetop walk is located on the Sommerberg to the west of Bad Wildbad at an altitude of around 750 meters. The path leads over a length of 1,250 meters at a height of up to 20 m through the treetops of the Black Forest and ends in a 40-meter-high funnel-shaped panorama tower. From there you have a great view of the Enz valley and the Kaltenbronn nature reserve. On a clear day, you can see as far as Alsace and the Swiss Alps. The treetop walk is open in summer and winter and offers great views over the Sommerberg, especially when the landscape is covered in snow ;-).
In addition to a new perspective on the treetops of the mixed forest of beech, spruce and fir trees, there are many information boards about the flora and fauna as well as exciting adventure stations for visitors of all ages. The trail is barrier-free and can also be easily negotiated with wheelchairs and baby carriages. If you are looking for a bit of action and are older than six, you can take the tunnel slide on the way down.
The adventure forest is located directly at the treetop walk. The 8,000 square meter action playground with 25 play and learning stations offers variety not only for the little ones—fun for the whole family is the order of the day here. If you need more adrenaline, you should take a look at the nearby WILDLINE suspension bridge. With a length of 380 meters, it offers 300-meter-deep views down to Bad Wildbad.
Arrival and parking at the Black Forest treetop walk in Bad Wildbad
A limited number of paid parking spaces are available on the Sommerberg. There are many other parking options in the town center of Bad Wildbad. From there, you can take one of the most modern funicular railways in Germany, the Sommerbergbahn, directly from the center to the Sommerberg. The cable car is also completely barrier-free! The valley station of the Sommerbergbahn is located directly in the center, close to the Uhlandplatz S-Bahn stop. From there, the modern panorama cars run up the Sommerberg every half hour.

The ticket office always closes one hour before closing time. You can buy tickets directly at the path entrance or in the online store. If you buy your ticket online, you may save yourself longer waiting times at the ticket office.

| Gastronomy: | Snack bar “Futterkrippe” at the entrance to the Sommerberg adventure forest. |
| Sanitary facilities: | Down at the observation tower and in the adventure forest. |
| Barrier-free: | The path is barrier-free and has a maximum gradient of 6%. A disabled toilet is available in the tower. You will find disabled parking spaces in front of the Hotel Restaurant Auerhahn (Navi: Heermannsweg 4, 75323 Bad Wildbad). |
| Dogs allowed: | No, dogs are not allowed. Exception: assistance dogs for the disabled and care assistance dogs. |
| Guided tours: | You can experience the guided tour “From the roots to the treetops” every Thursday at 14:00 from March to October, even without booking in advance. Group tours take place by appointment. |

We were very lucky with the weather today and early rain gave way to warm sunshine for our ascent. The wooden walkway could do with a bit more grip in places but it's a gentle gradient up the tower.nOn the way up the slide was closed but when it dried out they reopened it and it was popular with all ages.nI think we did the right thing by going on a weekday with a mixed weather forecast. I dropped them an email checking about the weather (it's shut if there's a thunderstorm) and they got back to me quickly to say it's not expecting to close.nWheelchair accessible parking was available above the main car park in a number of places and I think it would be harder to find a place at the weekend.nThere are plaques pointing out different places of interest (or disinterest) as you go around the top level. Unfortunately, for a wheelchair user the top rail is right in your line of sight so you can try to peek over the top or bend down and look through the fencing.nUsual exit through the gift shop.nNothing else of interest for a wheelchair user and the play areas seem to be aimed at younger children.nIt's somewhere I have wanted to go for a while and I'm happy we did it.nBuying tickets was a bit unclear. If you are a wheelchair user then it's cheaper to pay on arrival but, if you pay in advance, a family of three are better off buying a family ticket for four.
Una actividad muy entretenida, un bonito paseo. Ideal para ir con niños para que bajen en el tobogan.nLa pena es que las explicaticiones solo están en Aleman y en Inglés. Además el parque de juegos hay que pagar, no se puede acceder con el ticket de Treetop…nnPosterior puedes hacer varios paseos y ver el puente, también se paga aparte.
Ter plaatsen stond niet duidelijk aangegeven wat de kosten waren. En de glijbaan moest ook nog appart betaald worden. Wel een mooie wandeling.
