The Alsace Treetop Walk in Drachenbronn

The Alsace Treetop Walk runs for around 1,050 metres through the forest and sandstone cliffs of the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, at heights of up to 23 m. After 625 metres, you reach the 29 m-high observation tower. From the platform, you can look out over the Rhine Plain, the Black Forest and the Northern Vosges. On a clear day, you can even see Strasbourg Cathedral.

Spiral up, tube slide back down

Inside the tower, a gently rising wooden walkway winds its way up over 425 metres. The gradient is no more than 6%, so this section is also suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. For the way back down, there’s a 75-metre tunnel slide from the top platform to the ground, €2 per ride. From age six, you’ll need your own sliding mat; younger children ride free when accompanied by an adult. In rain, snow or high humidity, the slide stays closed.

Wildcat, lynx and super ant

Along the path you’ll find balconies with learning games, info boards and small balancing and climbing courses. You’ll get to know the forest’s residents—from the wildcat and the lynx to the super ant. The stations were developed with local environmental partners and built in the on-site carpentry workshop. Thanks to the clear route layout, you’ll almost automatically keep an eye on your kids along the way.

At the self-service restaurant Chez Emile, you’ll find French and Alsatian dishes, snacks, cake and ice cream, with hot meals served from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM. There are 60 seats inside and another 60 on the terrace. You can’t drive right up to the entrance: the free car park is next to the Fontaines swimming pool about three kilometres away, and a free shuttle train takes you from there. On foot via the hiking trail, it takes about an hour. Right next door is the Alsace Adventure Forest, with combo tickets available.
