Overnight stays in the treetops of the Palatinate Forest

On the western edge of the Palatinate wine village of St. Martin, where forest meets vineyards, stands the Sankt Martin tree house on a 1,400 square meter wooded plot. At a height of seven meters, you have a view from the surrounding wooden terrace to the east into the idyllic wine village and across to the Rhine plain, and to the west directly into the Palatinate Forest. The Palatinate Forest is the largest contiguous forest area in Germany and offers hiking and biking trails for all abilities. The Sankt Martin tree house can therefore be used as a good starting point for tours in the region without compromising on comfort.

The house itself offers around 70 square meters of living space on two floors for up to four people. On the first floor, you will find a light-flooded living and dining area with an oak kitchenette, a bedroom with a roll-away double bed (1.80 x 2.00 m) and a bathroom with a walk-in shower, natural stone washbasin, make-up mirror and hairdryer. A steep staircase leads to the open gallery with another double bed for two people. The mattresses are high-quality natural latex mattresses and the bed linen is made from organic cotton. The house is surrounded by a covered, furnished balcony measuring around 55 square meters with sun loungers and hanging chairs. The rollaway bed can simply be pushed out onto the balcony on clear nights.

For arrivals and departures by bus or train, your hosts will be happy to pick you up from the train station in Maikammer-Kirrweiler, which is around five kilometers away. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay in the treehouse. Lots of wood, the view over St. Martin from the wraparound balcony, great furnishings for feeling at home, a warm and welcoming host, and impeccable cleanliness – simply fantastic! And for hikers: We parked the car on Friday and didn't move it again until Tuesday. There are plenty of hikes directly from the treehouse (Hochberg, Kalmit, Felsenmeer, Hohe Loog, St. Martiner Tal, Tiefenbachtal, Klausental – including some with elevation gain and a stop at a mountain hut).

This was our first time staying in a treehouse, and we loved it. The house is located on the edge of the Palatinate Forest, and you can easily reach many beautiful hiking trails in the surrounding area, both through the mountains and the vineyards. The house itself is equipped with everything you need and furnished with great attention to detail. The wraparound terrace is very practical, offering plenty of space to sit outside and for the hammock. The three of us stayed in the treehouse for a week and slept every night on the mezzanine. From there, you can enjoy a wonderful sunrise with a magnificent view over the town of St. Martin. The bakery and a café are about a 10-minute walk away.We will definitely come back again in the summer, although our autumn holiday was also very romantic. The Holländer family, the owners, are very friendly.

A few days together in the treehouse – it was wonderful! The location alone is fantastic: Through the huge window, you can look out over the beautiful town and the Rhine plain all the way to the Odenwald forest. The treehouse is already in the forest. The house is brand new and very beautiful – simply perfect for feeling comfortable and relaxing. It offers plenty of comfort and a friendly atmosphere. The owners built the treehouse themselves and lovingly implemented some great creative ideas. For example, you can pull the bed out onto the balcony and sleep outside. Dear Holländer family, thank you again for everything!

We would like to sincerely thank the Holländer family for this unique and successful stay in their treehouse! From the first contact to the excellent website, the easy online booking, the punctual and personal check-in, and the uncomplicated check-out, everything went perfectly. With them, the guest is still king, and we felt very comfortable from the very first moment. The treehouse was completed at the end of 2019 and is tastefully furnished with great attention to detail. It exudes style and offers every comfort you could wish for in a vacation home. The huge glass front and the height of the open-plan living area impressed us. Even in the upstairs sleeping area, which is accessible via a ladder, there is endless space and air.A covered terrace surrounds the entire treehouse, where we enjoyed breakfast and rounded off the evening with a good glass of wine from St. Martin. We particularly liked the bathroom. The floor-level shower, a mirror with integrated heating, and even the vanity are unusual and rarely found in a vacation home. We didn't need the underfloor heating in May, but it's still nice to know it's available for the colder season. The bedroom at the rear of the treehouse is relatively small, but it has a built-in closet and even a safe. What's unbeatable is that we were able to fully open the glass doors to the terrace and, because the bed is on wheels, push it outside. It's so romantic =).The kitchen is fully equipped, with a refrigerator, stove, oven, kettle, coffee maker, dishes, and cutlery. We found it very practical that the beds were already made and that there were enough towels in the bathroom. Finally, we'd like to mention that our hosts gave us a free PfalzCard. This gave us free entry to Hambach Castle, for example, and we were even able to go to the climbing forest in Kandel for free for three hours on the way home. This treehouse and the Holländer family definitely deserve this 5* rating. Keep it up!
