On the Elbe island of Krautsand, between old, gnarled willow trees and the dyke, there are three tree houses on stilts in the Elbinselhof Krautsand tree house hotel. Only a horse pasture and the dyke separate two of them from the Elbe. The Elbinselhof is an active Icelandic horse farm, and that’s what makes this place special: when you arrive here, you’re in the middle of a farm, not a hotel complex. If you have your own horse, you can even bring it with you. The farm charges 20 euros per day for accommodation with paddock, hay and water.
The three tree houses are called JOJO, LOTTI and ANNI and can each accommodate up to four people. You can spend cozy evenings by the small wood-burning stove, but you won’t find a TV. Wi-Fi can be provided on request. The farm sets the minimum stay at three nights in the high season (May to September) and two nights in the other months. Arrival from 4 pm, departure until 11 am.
In addition to the tree houses, there is also an earth house on the grounds, which can be used as a seminar, meditation or yoga room and was built in a newly constructed wad. Those of you planning weddings or special events can also enquire about the farm.

The JOJO is set back a little and offers the most beautiful view of the paddocks and the resting places of the wild geese. When you look out of the window in the morning, you have a direct view of the Icelandic horses.
Tree houses LOTTI and ANNI
LOTTI and ANNI are in the front row towards the Elbe. The only thing between you and the river is a horse pasture and the dyke. The view of the water is closest from these two houses.

This was our first time at the treehouse hotel and we immediately fell in love with "Anni." It was so cozy and cuddly, with a fantastic view of the Elbe River and the passing ships.
A bottle of organic wine and two glasses were waiting for us on the table, and in the morning—upon request—fresh rolls were delivered to our door. The terrace with its table and chairs invites you to relax with a coffee, the beach chair invites you to sunbathe, and every now and then you can hear the gentle snorting of a horse... wonderful.
Simply sitting on the dike and watching the ships, cycling, hiking... driving downhill and unwinding, even by the fireplace when it's cold.
And Klaus is incredibly nice and relaxed. This certainly won't be the last time we've been here.

Unfortunately, the owner, Mr. M., forgot about our reservation for our wedding anniversary (3 nights), which we had booked 1.5 years in advance to ensure everything went smoothly (we have written confirmation), and rented the treehouse to someone else. Truly poor accounting! This overbooking is outrageous, and I regret that our honeymoon, which we had planned for years, has now been canceled. We incurred additional costs, and we were not offered alternative accommodation.

If you enjoy watching Icelandic horses play in the morning, seeing geese fly home, feeling the wind in your hair, and watching ships sail by from your bed, then this is the place for you. It's a wonderful spot where you immediately feel warmly welcomed by such a kind host. The treehouses have everything you need, and the hot tub invites you to admire the moon at night, even in cold weather. Worth a visit any time of year. I love this place and the feeling it evokes.
