Haidmühle Fairy Tale Forest in the Bavarian Forest

Description

Free: Haidmühle Fairy Tale Forest in Bischofsreut

Haidmühle Fairy Tale Forest is a small, free forest experience run by the municipality of Haidmühle in the Bavarian Forest, near the Czech border at the tri-border area. Between legends and fairy tales, twelve traditional fairy tales await children’s shining eyes here, just behind the welcome dwarf at the entrance.

Uwe Express, climbing house and barbecue areas

At the adjoining playground, little ones can let off steam to their heart’s content. There’s a huge wooden train to sit in—the Uwe Express—an “Indian” climbing house, a sandbox house with slide, and root benches. The mischievous boys Max and Moritz also get up to their antics here.

For a break in between, picnic spots and barbecue areas are provided—so pack your snacks. The fairy tale forest is freely accessible and open year-round, with no admission fee. It also makes a great day out combined with a hike through the Bischofsreut forest strip fields.

We were really looking forward to visiting the fairytale forest. The pictures in the reviews spoke for themselves. Unfortunately, we arrived to find a covered sign and an empty park. Not a single figure was set up.So we drove 30 km for nothing. Nowhere online does it say that the figures are put away or that the park is only open at a certain time of year. While you can enter the grounds for free, it's rather pointless without the figures. Even the playground swings were dismantled and the horses were covered.Very disappointing!

A beautiful, quiet, and lovingly maintained playground in the heart of nature. We come here often, and our little ones are always thrilled. Highly recommended for the whole family.

Today we went there with the children for the first time. Their excitement was evident in their shining eyes. One star deducted for the parking, which is only possible with the Parkster app. We will definitely spend our free time there with the children again. Very nice park and playground.

A lovely playground with plenty of play options and a small fairytale trail. There's a small Kneipp water therapy station, swings, a seesaw, slides, and a zip line. The playground is well-maintained, and parking is available for a fee using the Parkster system. There's also a short fairytale walk with figures.

We visited the fairytale forest as a stopover on our way to the Dreisessel mountain and found a truly lovely playground. However, it's quite hidden away. Beware of the hillside location!
