The Sylt Legend Forest in Wenningstedt-Braderup is a free adventure playground that also shares the island’s legends. There are as many Sylt legends as there are grains of sand on the beach—stories of unwavering love, pirates, and brave freedom fighters. Faithful Ose, the dwarf kings, Finn the egg thief, and the merman Ekke Nekkepen have all found a rustic home here.
Children can run wild on high-quality wooden play equipment in the shade of the trees, from the Klabautermann carousel to hidden Puk figures. Next to each play station is a board with the corresponding legend. The playground was created in close cooperation with the Sölring Foriining local history association.
Admission is free, the grounds are open year-round, and it is listed as a barrier-free leisure facility. During the holiday season, Sylt author Frank Deppe offers guided tours through the Legend Forest, bringing the stories to life. Dates can be found in the Wenningstedt event calendar. Parking is available at the Osetal public parking lot between the beach chair hall and the campsite.

The Sylt Legend Forest is beautifully designed. It's worth a visit both with and without children. Along the path, you'll find numerous charming play structures and information about regional legends. The forest itself has a very rustic and enchanting feel. It's located near the Uwe Dune, making a combined visit to the two attractions a great option.
A great activity for children. Whether the weather is good or not, there's plenty to discover, safely tucked away in the woods. We've been there twice, and both times it was great fun. Afterwards, you can go to the beach, although that takes a bit more time.
Beautifully situated in the woods. At each station, children will find something new to play with and discover. The circular route is best explored on foot. It's easily accessible by bicycle, and there's also parking nearby for cars.
A lovely place. You can park there, too. The forest path is nicely designed and offers a welcome break from everyday life. There are many small stations with an accompanying story and a play structure for children. On hot days, the forest provides coolness and relaxation. A dune landscape is located nearby.
A leisurely stroll through the fairytale forest, with play stations lovingly designed according to Sylt legends. Benches invite you to linger.
