In the Fairytale Garden in Blühendes Barock in Ludwigsburg, fairytales come true. On enchanted paths, you stroll past Rapunzel’s Tower, past Hansel and Gretel’s gingerbread house, and to the Frog Prince at the well. Over 40 designed stations bring the well-known stories to life, for marveling, discovering, and participating, for the youngest visitors as well as for older ones who enjoy tracing the many details.
Highlights include the boat trip on the Fairytale Stream, the sleeping giant, the realm of the dwarves, and the talking dragon, who enjoys paper waste as food. On warm days, the water playground is worthwhile. It’s best to pack swimwear for it. For the Golden Hen, the Golden Donkey, the historic carousel, and the convertible swing at Schüsselesee, you’ll need some change. Plan about 3 to 5 hours for the Fairytale Garden; with the Palace Garden and the large play area, it can easily become a full day.
Around the Fairytale Garden, there are plenty of dining options, from the cafeteria at the Rose Garden to the snack bar at the Blühbähnle and the Parkcafé. Dogs are allowed in the park on a short leash. Due to the hillside location, parts of Blühendes Barock are only partially accessible for wheelchair users. A path map is available for download, and wheelchairs can be rented at the main entrance against a deposit. The season runs from the end of March to the beginning of December. Admission is valid for the entire park, including the Fairytale Garden.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum is a true testament to the visionary minds of Benz, Daimler, and Maybach. Interestingly, despite all of them living and working in the Stuttgart area, they never actually met each other. It is a brilliantly designed museum; you start by taking the elevator straight to the 8th floor and then enjoy a fascinating journey through time as you walk your way down. The entry fee is 16 euros per person, and it is absolutely worth every cent.
The Blühendes Barock Ludwigsburg (Ludwigsburg Palace Gardens) is truly one of the most beautiful places to visit in the region. The scenery is absolutely stunning, with perfectly designed landscapes that change beautifully with the seasons. The variety of colorful flowers is breathtaking, especially in spring and summer when everything is in full bloom. The fountains add a magical touch to the park, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with the soothing sound of flowing water. Walking through the gardens feels like stepping into a fairytale, with every corner offering a new picturesque view. It’s a perfect place to spend a few hours enjoying nature, taking photos, or simply relaxing. A must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates beauty, flowers, and elegant garden design.
I walk there almost every day (it's on my way to work) and on the weekends I take longer walks there. It has plenty of different areas to enjoy either the beautiful flowers or the area that feels like a tiny forest. Pro Tip: get the new season pass for around 45€ - with that you can enter the park at 6:30 a.m. and enjoy peace and quiet early when there are very few people.
Beautiful palace garden with fountains, cafes, children's playground and interactive fairy tale garden! A boat ride on the fairy tale stream, illusion swing ride and lily pad ride are all included. It is worth an all day visit. Unfortunately when we went on 30 April 2026, there was not much to see. It turned out we went before they started planting flowers for the season... so not sure why the garden was open... we were of course disappointed. You save time and money by buying tickets online.Dogs are allowed.
