Treetop Path Beelitz-Heilstätten

Germany’s only treetop and time travel trail

Opened in 2015, the Beelitz treetop trail in Brandenburg offers over 700 meters of insights into the forest and the ruins of the Beelitz sanatoriums. With viewing platforms and a 40-meter-high tower, it offers a panoramic view as far as Berlin. Following an expansion in 2020, it will also offer new attractions such as a giant hammock and a sky boa.

It is part of a historic complex that was originally built as a sanatorium. The Beelitz sanatoriums are known for their extensive, partly dilapidated buildings, which were built at the beginning of the 20th century to treat lung diseases such as tuberculosis. After the end of the Second World War, the sanatoriums were used by the Soviet army and then fell into a long slumber.

The treetop path offers visitors the unique opportunity to experience nature and historic buildings from a completely new perspective. The path leads along the treetops and allows you to admire both the natural beauty of the forest and the architectural features of the sanatoriums from a bird’s eye view. The complex also includes an observation tower, from which you have an even more comprehensive view of the surrounding landscape and the ruins.

In addition to the treetop path, there are other attractions in Beelitz-Heilstätten such as guided tours through the historic buildings, where visitors can learn more about the history of the sanatoriums and their significance in different eras. The combination of nature, history and architecture makes a visit to the Beelitz-Heilstätten a fascinating experience.
