In the Bergisches Land, in the middle of a forest in Odenthal near Cologne, Baumhaushotel Odenthal has built six treehouses that are truly unique. Each house has its own name, follows its own design, and tells its own story. What connects all the houses: underfloor heating, a private bathroom, a kitchenette with a fridge, Wi-Fi, and the conscious decision not to have a TV. Nature and the rustling of the trees are happy to take on this role themselves here.
Breakfast baskets with yogurt, muesli, croissants, cinnamon rolls, orange juice, as well as coffee and tea can be delivered directly to your treehouse upon request. The K1 high ropes course is also located on the grounds, and is open to all hotel guests with a 50% discount during the regular opening hours from April to November. For rainy days or a quiet evening, a communal lounge area is available, which can also be used as a workspace.
The Different Treehouses
Treeangle
The Treeangle is the first one visible at the entrance to the forest grounds. With its large panoramic windows, 10-centimeter-thick solid wood walls, and a large balcony overlooking the landscape, it is the largest house in the ensemble. It offers space for three people: a double bed and a single bed are located on the upper floor, accessible via a ladder, while a cozy seating area awaits below.
Loop
The Loop treehouse hangs from 19 sturdy stainless steel cables amidst the beech treetops. Its round shape blends harmoniously between the trunks and gives the feeling of actually sleeping suspended in the forest. Inside, there is a double bed, a seating area, and a private bathroom; in the evening, the gentle rustling of leaves lulls you to sleep.

Oak
The Oak treehouse is located at the end of a forest path right next to an old oak tree, whose branches reach over the large balcony. A large panoramic window opens the view from the bed into the greenery, and the 10-centimeter-thick solid wood walls create a warm, natural ambiance. Designed for two people, with its own bathroom and balcony.
Cube
In the Cube, the tree trunk around which this treehouse was built is immediately noticeable. A round window with a seating area offers a direct view into the trees, and the double bed is on the upper floor with a view of the treetops. Cube is designed for two people and combines a clear, unusual design with the feeling of living in the middle of the forest.
Echo
The Echo is a round, geodesic treehouse that is fully supported by the surrounding trees. Inside, there are large panoramic windows with views of the surrounding fields and, as a special highlight, a freestanding bathtub in the middle of the room, inviting you to relax with a view. The Echo is designed for two people and is the only house in the ensemble with a bathtub instead of a shower.
Peak
The Peak is inspired by the clean architecture of a church and extends over two levels with an impressive room height. Large windows open the view far into nature, and a hanging net between the levels invites you to read, relax, or simply look out into the forest. The Peak also offers space for two people and a private bathroom.
At 35 square meters, the two Saar Cabins are the largest units in the lodge garden. Solid wood walls from local forests and a large glass facade convey a sense of closeness to nature. They offer space for up to four people on a single level, and a cozy terrace invites you to linger. Bookable from €149 per night (Sun to Thu), minimum stay: two nights.

Beautiful treehouses, tastefully design in a beautiful environment. The breakfast picnic is splendid and we get to use the climbing service. We really missed having mosquite net panels on the windows and door. Granted, it is in the woods, so each time we opened the windows/ doors all the flies and mosquitos would come in and my daughter reacts badly to mosquito bites. So we had to have our door and windows closed all the time.
I would highly recommend staying in one of the treehouses here! We were looking for a cool place to stay and enjoy nature. We stayed at the Loop house first and then switched to the Oak house because we wanted a bit more privacy. Owners Stefan and Leon were very accommodating, this was the perfect solution for us. Both houses are nicely decorated and felt very luxurious. Upon booking we received a list of recommended restaurants and things to do (we went on a nice hike). Also, definitely book the breakfast, it’s very good. Thanks again!

We had a wonderful time at the K1 Treehouse and will definitely be back!We felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The treehouse is simply stunning – the high-quality designer furniture, the thoughtful details, and the overall atmosphere completely captivated us. Add to that the fantastic view and the impeccable cleanliness, which left nothing to be desired.We especially enjoyed the peace and quiet. It was wonderful to unwind, leave everyday life behind, and simply soak up the unique surroundings.We also loved the breakfast. It was delicious, lovingly prepared, and the perfect start to the day.A big thank you also goes to the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, warm, and relaxed, making us feel welcome and perfectly taken care of from the very beginning.Unfortunately, we couldn't go climbing this time because we had the wrong shoes with us. We'll definitely make up for that on our next visit! We were only there for one night, and honestly, that was far too short. Next time, we'll book two nights so we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the entire experience for even longer.We'd also like to give a big shout-out to the staff. Thank you so much for this wonderful stay – we are already looking forward to next time!
We spent Easter at the K1 Treehouse Peak, and it was simply wonderful!We had hoped for a cozy atmosphere and peaceful days in nature, but we got so much more. The treehouse is truly exceptional, state-of-the-art in both technology and furnishings, and designed with great attention to detail.We would also like to especially commend the hosts: incredibly friendly, relaxed, and completely uncomplicated; you immediately feel welcome.Another highlight was the tastefully furnished common room, which we used for a shared Easter breakfast. The coffee there was sensational, by the way!All in all, we had an unforgettable time and would love to come back again.
