The Saarschleife Treehouse Hotel is located in Dreisbach near Mettlach in Saarland, right on the banks of the Saar and in the immediate vicinity of the Saarschleife, one of Germany’s ten natural wonders. The grounds combine a historic main building with a former barn over 150 years old and a lodge garden featuring various tiny house units. A fire pit right on the banks of the Saar invites you to gather in the evenings, roast stick bread, or gaze at the starry sky together. The on-site wine bar offers Saarland Rieslings and Pinot varieties, and the surrounding area leads you along hiking and cycling trails through the border triangle. The Völklingen Ironworks UNESCO World Heritage Site is also well worth a visit.
The highlight for nature lovers is the eight treehouses in the lodge garden, which soar high on stilts. Covering 20 square meters, they each offer space for two people and are equipped with large panoramic windows and a balcony for sweeping views of the landscape.
If you prefer more space or a different location, you will also find Saar Houses right on the riverbank and Saar Cabins made of local timber in the lodge garden. The main house complements the offer with lofts, suites, and studios. A regional breakfast from the “Ebbes von Hei” series can be added for €17.90 per person. The Saarschleifenlodge is GreenSign certified (Level 4) and focuses on sustainable travel.
The eight treehouses are located in the lodge garden and rise high on stilts. Large panoramic windows and a balcony provide a wide view of the landscape around the Saarschleife. Each treehouse is 20 square meters and designed for two people. Amenities include a kitchenette, a bathroom with a hairdryer, a cozy corner, as well as bed linen and towels. Bookable from €129 per night (Sun to Thu) or from €139 (Fri, Sat, public holidays). Minimum stay: two nights.
The four Saar Houses are located directly on the banks of the Saar and offer a direct view of the water through large panoramic windows. With 26 to 30 square meters, they span two levels and are suitable for two adults and a maximum of one child. One dog is welcome in the Saar Houses. Bookable from €139 per night (Sun to Thu). Minimum stay: two nights.
At 35 square meters, the two Saar Cabins are the largest units in the lodge garden. Solid wood walls from local forests and a large glass facade convey a sense of closeness to nature. They offer space for up to four people on a single level, and a cozy terrace invites you to linger. Bookable from €149 per night (Sun to Thu), minimum stay: two nights.

We were in their café only, and we found it very good. It is located in a super picturesque place, near the river, so it is not as hot. You have to pick up drinks and order coffee or ice cream inside (I think they also have some grill dishes). The staff is wonderful and really help you. To come back.
Horrible experience. The so-called “Wellness lodge” is a joke. There are no curtains and absolutely no privacy. Upon arrival, the room was freezing cold, which already set the tone.Worst of all, the place was filthy. We were charged an extra €30 for a second dog, which would have been acceptable if the accommodation had been clean. Instead, there were visible stains on the chair and pillow that looked like urine. When we raised these issues, the owner showed no concern and refused to accept any criticism. We left after one night because we did not want to spend another minute there. Absolutely not worth the money. My girlfriend also left a review - the owner doesn't even take the time to answer to our valid concerns. He answers with a lie, that we couldn't take our second dog - but they approved it in an email.
Let's be honest about it. The best thing about the tree house at Saarschleifenlodge is that it is a tree house at a great location. The tree house itself however, has left us with some mixed feeling. It looks beautiful, but there are a few things you need to know. First, it is much smaller than you think. The photos are deceptive. It is rather small. It has a very steep ladder to the first floor where your bed is. So not an easy access for everyone. There are no curtains in the bedroom, which means a lot of light, and a lack of privacy. Privacy is also the biggest issues with the shared deck in front of the house. You are very close to your neighbor. Wifi only works at the main building but not at the treehouses. There are few other things (little to no kitchen utensils, no lock on the bathroom, no screens for the windows, etc.) but those are minor and something you can live with.So overall, a nice place in a great location but with some serious shortcomings around privacy and space.
We were here for 4 nights. The bungalows and the whole hotel area are VERY nice. The bungalows still have some problems, e.g. no curtain to protect from outside views, no coffee machine, but in general very comfortable and nice. The location is magnificent. However, the service was quite terrible. The people were very friendly, but completely overflown with work and could not manage even to put away the glasses and bottles from last night for the next day breakfast... The food is mixed: breakfast was good, but most of the stuff was gone 15 minutes after the start. The dinner was quite terrible... Supermarket pasta or very dry meat with "salads" - meaning old cold overcooked pasta with vinegar... The selection of wines was nice. Reccomendation: don't take the dinner and make sure you buy food yourself (you can cook a little in the bungalows).
Friendly service in the little eatery but there were only chilled drinks and cake
