The Fairy Tale Park Mackenrode has been drawing fairy tale fans young and old to the village of 265 souls in Thuringia’s Eichsfeld region, on the German Fairy Tale Route, since 2009. As soon as you step through the large gate into the park, you’ll immerse yourself in the world of fairy tales. You’ll encounter depictions of Hansel and Gretel, the Wolf and the Seven Kids, the Frog Prince, and many more.
From the lookout hill you’ll have a beautiful view of the village and its half-timbered church. At the center of the park stands a large baking oven that can be fired up—then the air fills with the aroma of fresh bread, cake, or flatbread. The kids can let loose on the nearby playground, and right next door is the Gasthaus Am Brandholz. Because no main road separates the park from the playground and inn, the children can run and play undisturbed.
The fairy tale park is open year-round, 24 hours a day, and free for short visits. The entrances are barrier-free. Larger groups should register in advance: use costs €25 per day for up to 20 people, €35 for up to 50 people, and €25 for the baking oven with grill.

Tip top
Highly recommended for families with small children!Built and maintained thanks to the fantastic initiative of the Mackenrode residents, probably not just during a single "Subbotnik" (work day). 😀
The fairytale park is small but charming and is occasionally renovated... there's a picnic hut in one corner. But what we liked best was the children's playground opposite, also small but charming... sandbox (sand toys are in two boxes and are put back in the boxes after use), seesaw, climbing frame, zip line, ping-pong table, and a picnic table. We were there for two hours, and the place was very popular with other families with small children. We'd gladly come back, as it was very peaceful and idyllic.
A lovely place, well-maintained and clean. Everything is lovingly designed. Our grandchildren love coming here.
Very cute and with lots of detail. Absolutely cool for kids, a little fairy tale summary.
