Somewhere in Ammerland, hidden behind an old brick road and a forest path, lies the Baumgeflüster resort. The luxury treehouse resort is ranked among the top ten treehouse hotels in the world by Departures magazine (New York). Beech and oak trees around 30 meters high frame the grounds, with rhododendron bushes glowing between the trunks in May and June. When you arrive here, you leave the road behind you and find yourself in a piece of forest unlike any other.
The four tree house suites are designed for comfort: Each suite offers around 39 square meters of living space plus a terrace of around 20 square meters, space for up to four people and furnishings made from natural materials. A custom-made daybed corner awaits you in the living area made of untreated larch wood, natural slate in the bathroom, underfloor heating and a walk-in shower with a view of the greenery. Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels are included. You won’t find a television or radio here. Instead, deer come under the houses in the evening.
Amenities overview:
The resort is located approx. 40 minutes south of the North Sea and approx. 3 km from the Zwischenahner Meer. On clear nights, it is considered a “dark sky place”: without streetlights, you have a largely undisturbed view of the starry sky. The resort can be booked all year round and is aimed at guests looking for peace and seclusion.
Pure nature around the Baumgeflüster resort
The Ammerland is characterized by a unique park landscape of moorland, heath, forest and meadows. Around 380 kilometers of well-signposted hiking and cycling trails invite you to go on bike tours and walks. The Zwischenahner Meer, with an area of 526 hectares, is one of the most beautiful inland waters in Lower Saxony. You can find lots more information on possible activities at the Bad Zwischenahn tourist information office. Please note that there is an absolute ban on smoking and barbecuing in the treehouse suites and in the forest due to the risk of forest fires. A “smokers’ corner” is available on request.

What a gem! I’m from the Netherlands and was looking for a quiet place to meditate in nature when I came across these beautiful wooden cabins tucked away in the forest. I couldn’t have hoped for a better little sanctuary to reconnect with my inner peace. The hostess was wonderful (very friendly!), breakfast was delicious, and as a bonus, Bad Zwischenahn is a charming little town worth exploring. I will definitely be coming back!

We recently spent three days at the Baumgeflüster resort and are still brimming with positive impressions. Even the welcome at a nearby farm was very personal; everything was explained in a friendly manner, directions were given, and the key was handed over. We immediately felt welcome. From the small guest parking area in the woods, a bark-covered footpath leads to the idyllic houses, which stand on stilts in a small forest. Everything exudes peace and tranquility. Our house was elegantly and comfortably furnished, with wood surfaces throughout and a beautiful bathroom in black slate. From the bed, you look out onto the green of the forest and feel transported to another world. The kitchenette in the living area has everything you need. The small but delicious breakfast is delivered in a basket. It includes coffee or tea, orange juice, incredibly tasty homemade rolls, homemade cream cheese, and jam. The homemade marzipan jam was particularly delicious. For this quality, the breakfast is very reasonably priced. Bad Zwischenahn, with its large lake and many boutiques and restaurants, is not far away, and the trip to Oldenburg was also worthwhile. We felt completely at ease, spent very relaxing days, and will definitely come back.
