If you fancy spending a night on a real ship without even a meter of water underneath you, then the tree house hotel Bad Rodach is just right for you. In the middle of Bavaria, surrounded by old trees and right next to a forest pool, the owners Jan and Alexandra Schenkel have built seven extraordinary accommodations: two historic tree ships, three stilt houses and two glamping tents. Each accommodation has its own style and invites you to enjoy a stay that is fundamentally different from a classic hotel room.
The heart of the complex is the directly adjacent forest pool, admission to which is included in the price of the accommodation. There are plenty of opportunities to get active around the accommodation: Herbal walks, yoga, archery, stand-up paddling, mini golf and tennis are all on offer. For those of you who prefer to relax, the nearby Bad Rodach thermal spa offers the perfect change of pace. You can optionally book a regional breakfast basket with eggs from our own hens.
All prices include electricity and water, bed linen and towels, entry to the forest pool and final cleaning. Dogs are welcome in the stilt houses for a small surcharge. Bookings can be made via the contact form on the website. Vouchers for a stay at the Baumschiffhotel are also available.
The two tree boats are the heart of the hotel and the reason for its name. The Nautilus offers space for two people in a double bed. When you lie in bed, you have a clear view of the stars. The Moby Dick is suitable for up to four people with two double beds, split between the bow and stern. Both boats have a seating area, a spacious terrace, a bathroom with a dry toilet, a kettle and infrared heating. Showers and toilets are available in the forest swimming pool just 20 meters away or in the campsite’s sanitary block.
The three stilt houses each offer space for four people in a one-room apartment with around 20 square meters of living space. The large glass front opens up the view into the forest and makes each room a quiet place to take a deep breath. Facilities include two bunk beds, underfloor heating, a bathroom with a dry toilet and a kettle. The furnishings differ depending on the house: Fehmarn comes in wood and black, Bornholm relies on antique, dark furniture and Copenhagen presents itself in boho style. Extra beds and a baby crib are available on request.
The two glamping tents are raised on platforms and offer space for two adults and one child. The Frida comes in bright, Mexican-inspired colors, while the Heldberg has a purist and adventurous design. Both tents have their own bathroom with dry toilet right next door. With prices starting at 85 euros per night, the glamping tents are the cheapest option at the Baumschiffhotel.
